I carry a Porter briefcase on campus. Backpacks are for high school.
this thread has been hideously depressing so far [IMG]
I enjoy the convenience of a backpack, but I have to agree with you two a lot of bags do look they would be better suited in the halls of a high-school rather than a campus. Not saying I'm giving up my search for a good backpack, just that most companies are targeting that demographic and people who want the convenience of backpack have to settle for the styling offered for school kids or for trekking - little tangent I really like the word trekking [IMG]. BTW I'm not a huge fan of leather bag. Canvas = [IMG]

Yeah, leather isn't my style in the brief either. Don't listen to all this 'business looking' nonsense. A good briefcase just looks more 'professional' in my opinion. Just don't get the super slim one that is only good for a notepad and some pens. Here is my Porter. Perfect amount of room for a laptop, a couple books and whatever else I need. [IMG]

Not the backpack, but I've had a large briefcase for a couple of weeks and it's very well made.

I switch between an old nylon coach messenger and my LV icare and a Jack Spade messenger.

Nothing really special. They perform their intended functions.

I have the original briefcase in the red russet. It has gotten compliments everywhere.

I don't want to start a new thread so I am posting here.

I am looking for a canvas messenger or backpack with leather timming. One that can hold a laptop, 2 - 3 medium sized text books, lunch and some notebooks.

I was looking at the bag as well and found this website that stocks it for $150 Qwstion Bag Apparently the company that produces it is based in Zurich, Switzerland. If you go to their website they also have a list of places that also stock this bag like wejetset.com

That looks pretty interesting, does it feel bulky at all with its squareness?

Hell yes. I don't even need a backpack yet and now I'm starting to come up with reasons. My favorite thing is the shape - it seems like most backpacks are designed for school, so why not give them the shape of books/laptops? I'll have to remember this in a year when I'm back to school.
