Looks like UK 9 ct gold marks. Picture is too small to see the assay office mark...

They're second hand - £70. Was looking for a pair of silver stiffeners but then spotted these. Not sure if they're worth it. Think a decent new pair goes for around £140ish.

Wouldn't gold stays be unnecessarily heavy (to say nothing of expensive)?

I have plastic ones. They work equally as well, and they look exactly the same!

The more I look at the hallmark the more the assay looks like Sheffield. As to value - I think it's a fair price if you particularly want gold rather than plastic. Personally the extra expense for something invisible (and no more functional) wouldn't be worth it...
