I stopped using them a few months ago. I think I prefer it.

I use mother of pearl collar stays from this Vietnamese site.

(Found out about this site through another SF post.)

Since they're just $3 $6 a pair, I've replaced all the soft plastic stays that come with my MTM and RTW shirts with MOP ones. They are stiff and heavy.

[EDIT] It's $3 per stay, or $6 a pair. I remembered wrong. Sorry.

That's^ interesting... I am actually looking to replace my cheaper plastic stays for the first stay. Not necessarily all of them are cheap plastic, but most are.

Are the MOP ones bendable a little as well? What about the CT Brass ones? I'd prefer something that has at least a little ability to be adjusted to get that noted collar roll - thanks.

i have some plastics from thomas pink that i really like...purple, pink, red, and blue thick plastic. CT also has some cool ones that are brass that are a little wider than most of mine and ive liked those too.

No, the MOP ones are stiff. I haven't tried to bend them but I doubt they'd yield.

If you order from Kimson, have a little patience. I think my order took over a month to dispatch. I can't tell whether the quality of the MOP is really AAAA, but they're inside my collars anyways.

Just a correction about Kimson's collar stay price: it's $3 per stay, or $6 a pair.

I thought something didn't quite add up when I typed that price earlier. :) They're still cheap, though, if you prefer stiff collars. I leave collar rolls to my button-downs.

Thanks for the link to those MOP stays. I just ordered a few of the standard stays. Have you tried any of the other sizes/styles?

Doesn't anyone use StayClip here? Variety of stay types and lengths, and they have the sweet magnetic holder thingy...

You're welcome. I did a custom size in single-point style, based on the plastic ones I have. Not very different from the standard version. They didn't mess up my order if that's what you're wondering.

I kept the plastic ones after I swapped them with MOP stays. Waste not. Figured they might be of use someday, like when I donate and old shirt.

If one is traveling and unexpectedly finds oneself without collar stays ... I suggest a pair of sissors and the stiff plastic of the least used credit card in one's wallet. It certainly works in a pinch.

Do you guys actually remove the stays of all your shirts every time you do a washing cycle, put them in a nice little line , and then put them back on one by one after the washing is done?

    Does it really matter?

I confess I don't but may change my ways if corrected
