cole haan by far is better but that isn't saying much when being compared to aldo.

The quality with aldo is poor and it adds like an extra 2 inches to your foot length. If anything, get their casual white or gray sneakers on sale for $24.

Nice. Pair them with skinny jeans and women will think you have a huge...foot.

Just say no. I have no idea why someone would pay $100 for absolute **** when they could spend $100-$150 more and have a quality pair of Allen Edmonds. It's not that much more in the big picture of things.

Cole Haan vs. Aldo is like the fourth undercard on an old school wrestling match. Up top, you've got Hogan vs. Andre, which might be Vass v. EG. Then you've got a decent second match, with some middle tier wrassler like Superfly Snuka going up against the Nature boy, Alden vs. C&J. Then finally, way down on the card you've got the freakshow match, which is used to entertain people between bathroom breaks. Something like a donkey vs. a midget, or the Bearded Lady vs. the Blind Boxer, which is about where the Haan vs. Aldo fight takes place.

I have to admit I just purchased a pair of Aldos

http://www.aldoshoes.com/us/men/shoe...-castilleja/97

But I was aware of their quality and better options second-hand from AE, etc.

However, what did it for me was
a) the elf shoe style - I wanted something slim and sleek
b) the fit - my feet are slightly wide, most Aldos are narrow, but these ones were not

This creates a whole dilemma, wide feet, pointy shoe--how not to look ridiculous? They seemed to balance it all quite well, and that's the only reason I got them.

Unless any of you could recommend a better option? I am a student, so no dreaming of bespoke shoes.

A fact is fact and Aldo is pants.

But you do have a point and there is a demographic issue here too, although retailers like Aldo do produce some of the nastiest constructed shoes, for a certain age group the aesthetics of the shoe - its fashion forwardness or trend appeal makes it a viable option.

Moreover for some guys like students in befits the rest of their attire - it goes with what they wear, whereas whilst a pair of Aldens or Grensons or other reputable shoe is a better investment/product it might just look odd/too formal with the rest of their outfit.

So provided they are in the sale, if you like them and if you are determined to buy better shoes one day - carry on...ahem and buy Aldos!

Like this pair in particular:

Bubblegum, I just replied in the Steve Madden Vs. Aldo thread. Found some shoes that have a fairly youthful luck but are better quality (and a good price.)
