Cold weather running shoes

Anyone have any suggestions for where to look for running shoes that are suitable for sub 20's temperatures. Even with ski socks (base layer and a thicker wool outersock) my feet are absolutely freezing to the point of extreme discomfort in my normal shoes.

First step: get GoreTex lined ones. They get close to unbearable if it's not freezing but my feet are fine down to -10°C. Below that it's a big question anyway whether you should run at all. Icebug also has a model that goes above ankle height:

I always found my feet were fine in regular trainers + normal socks. They would get cold at first when wet, but then the water would warm up and keep em warm for a while

This was during my 4 years of 'indoor' (we ran outside almost every day) track through Buffalo winters. Make sure your circulation isn't getting cut off because that would definitely make them cold.

If you keep moving normal running shoes should be fine. Certainly you should avoid the lightweight mesh-heavy trainers. No climacool shoes either.

Among the 'normal' trainers, I always found New Balance's shoes (eg, 765) to retain tons of heat. When I wore them in the summers, I would have to wring out my socks mid-run.

+1 on the New Balance. You can't go wrong with those.

I think I do. The only thing I've found to work is running faster to heat up more.

You heard of the Adidas Inuvik (not Climacool but Climaproof)? http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7142533.html. Zappos is sold out right now. They're hard to find, but well worth the money.

No special setup. Just some good, warm shoes that breathe. Breathability I would think is an important factor here not just the insulation.
