Anyone got tips or experiences to share? For a temp job I have been cold calling for just 3 days, but it's driving me a little crazy.

Instead of calling, it might be more effective to show up in person.

You think the company will reimburse travel? I am only making $12/hr., so they could probably afford it.

Nothing wrong with cold calling, unless they placed ads and specifically mentioned "NO CALLS PLEASE!" I've cold called several times with no success.

Calling is easier than traveling around the entire city. Just call, **** 'em.

Confidence. Also make sure that you know the product that you are attempting to sell. DON'T just show up unless you have several potential visits planned in a city/region/area...especially if you are not getting your expenses taken care of.

I did this for a summer with credit card merchandising. Terrible terrible business until you make your first sale. Keep you chin up.

I would suggest that you try to make some intricate change everytime you give your speel. Canned approaches are so phony.

Never mind my previous post. I misunderstood the question being asked by the OP.

Good luck. Its **** work, the people suck and the customers hate you. BUT. Once you can sell cold calling, you're set for life. The sales skills you learn are a license to print money in later life.

Its like going to war; you're cold, exhausted and scared but once you're home you can take on the world safe in the knowledge that you've earned your confidence like a man.

The only advice I could give you is to smile. It sounds silly, but it will make you feel better and the person at the other end of the receiver will feel it as well.

I hope your business burns down. Cold calling should be a criminal act, you people are scum. Die in a fire.
