They said it before I believe. They found that many cobblers couldn’t resole the fiddle waist. The new lasts had a normal waist. They don’t seem to be discontinuing old shoes yet, but making new ones on the new lasts.

Hey @arturobelano , we are limiting the fiddleback waist on styles going forward as it was very difficult and expensive to resole. Our current models with the fiddleback waist, styles on the Louvre last, will continue to be produced and all other styles will be flat waisted with the close channeled sole.

Thank you,
CU

Let's say in between 100 usd to 300 usd depending on what you want. If you got a bevelled waist + fiddleback it is going to be more expensive than a simple flat dainite sole. It also depends if you want a JR sole, closed channel, etc. The more option you want, the more you pay. If you are not ready to pay a premium for your shoes resole then it would be better to buy the new shoes Cobbler Union released without bevelled waist and without fiddleback. You can also do a very thin half sole protector if you really want to increase your shoes life. Some would argue that the shoes are more bulky and less flexible with it. In the end it's your choice and your wallet choice !

SAVE UP TO 20% ON GIFT CARDS

Make gifting even easier when you gift the Cobbler Union gift card. This is one time when less isn't exactly more. The more you gift, the more you will save.

Here's another tip: We send gift cards electronically, so all you have to do is forward it along to the recipient or print it out, wrap it up, and place it on under the tree... there's at least some time left for that.
