You say select a half size smaller than normal shoe size. Do you mean like dress shoe size or are you saying the typical half size down from normal sneaker size? If I'm a 6.5 in AE, am I a 6 in CU?
Their advice is quite accurate and is related to the last used by each model. For instance, my normal dress shoe size is 7.5 and I wear 7.5 (6.5 UK) with their Soho last but 7 (6 UK) with their 312 last. On the other hand, I wear size 8 with my Adidas sneakers.

I picked a pair of LWB from Cobbler Union, I am very happy with them, you can instantly see the attention to detail, the leather quality and that "brand signature" or "je ne sais quoi" that I can see in all CU's shoes (the quilted heel cup, clicking and brogueing, the pattern, etc). I got a sizing session with Thomas and his advice was very acurate.

The museum calf shows it's character with early morning sunlight but changes a lot with less light (last picture). I was looking for a pair of versatile LWB to dress up or down and I think I got them:

Hi @OldTown , we mean dress shoe size. What is the 6.5 AE model? And the last?

Thanks!

Is Cobbler Union worth the extra £80.00 Import duty to the UK? I ordered the Renoir in mustard, so Total cost is going to be almost £400.....

So, due to the excellent customer service, and I do mean excellent, I ended up paying the VAT and all.

First impression, it looked slightly darker so not really mustard (French mustard) but a shade of Tan (Dijon mustard), which was ok and not a deal breaker.
These come with shoe tree, and shoe trees were ok but I thought they might be chukka shoetrees like the ones I got from Meermin when I got my Chelsea boots.

Fitting, as described on their website, they run on the tight so if you have slightly wide feet definitely take a 0.5 size bigger.
Pics of creases after first wear.. The left foot proved quite a pain, and had to wear them with normal thin socks.
It is taking its toll to break-in, so I thought a second wear would help. That is when it proved that it is not easy, blisters in a couple of places on both feet, to the extent that I didn't wear shoes the following day !!!

So first trial, 4-5 hrs walk, acceptable for a first try, no blisters or major discomfort. Second wear just under 2hrs, blisters on both feet, round the heel and big toe and 4th toe which I have never before experienced !

Second lot are the pictures without flash and these are closer to the real look/colour.

At the end, I do not regret buying them, they do look elegant and I suspect once they have have been worn a couple of more times they would be ok. I will be using different shoe trees, but I am reluctant to buy another pair...

If they manage to open a selling point in UK, it might be worth the risk, in the sale.
But ordering from EU and with all the VAT it comes up to almost same price as a Crockett & Jones !!!!

But the customer service was exceptional, proper customer service, they went the extra mile to resolve the problem.

We are excited to announce DUE Bianco has just arrived from Portugal!

The white sneaker is no longer just a street-style favorite, but instead has become a closet staple for any time of the year. With warmer months upon us, most may agree it's time to add a pair (and, a back up pair) of minimal white sneakers to your footwear rotation.

The DUE Bianco pairs perfectly well with anything and everything in your closet: light colored chinos, dark denim for a stark contrast, or even linen shorts. Alternatively, don't just stop at casual, style the Bianco with your favorite tailored suit for the spring and summer weddings ahead!

Look at the DUE Bianco as the foundation you can build any outfit from - grab your pair now!

Dear Union Member,

The last few weeks have been full of deep personal reflection. It's hard to believe it's been twelve months since COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic and a State of Emergency was issued here in the U.S. as well as around the rest of the world - changing our lives, in many regards, forever.

I really hope you and your loved ones are staying healthy. This unprecedented pandemic has affected us in ways most of us have certainly never experienced before.

As sales banished overnight last March, we made the decision to keep our doors open and our business ready for a post-pandemic return to normalcy. We're proud of our efforts and glad we were able to keep our team members in the U.S. and Europe employed. Most importantly, we're relieved we managed to serve you without interruptions all year, continuing to make your life a bit more elegant and beautiful amidst the less than ideal circumstances.

We thank YOU.

On behalf of the entire Cobbler Union family, I want to thank you for the tremendous support you provided us during the most challenging year of our soon-to-be celebrated seven-year history. This time last year we asked you (read here) to help us keep our wheels turning. And, you did just that - not just for a month or two, but for a full year.

I'm extremely optimistic about the future. I expect 2021 to be a year for personal reinvention and reconnection with loved ones, work, and life in general. However, there are still some great challenges ahead as the world slowly and safely reopens over the next few months.

After a full year of massive promotions and discounts, turning the corner in good financial health will be critical to resume normal operations. I know I can count on you to continue to support us through this "reopening" phase.

Powered by community
Today, we're relaunching the Honorary Investor Program - a unique loyalty program we created at the onset of the pandemic. Honorary Investors who joined the program a year ago were the backbone of everything we accomplished over the past twelve months. We wouldn't be here without them.

As an Honorary Investor, you will enjoy lifetime discounts and benefits while helping us rebuild our inventory and continue to strengthen our company as we prepare for a post COVID-19 world.

How do you become an HONORARY INVESTOR?

Simply, purchase something from our collection. As an Honorary Investor, you will not only help us keep Cobbler Union running, but also QUALIFY FOR SPECIAL DISCOUNTS - today and for life.

Enjoy 10% OFF SITE WIDE (discount not valid on gift cards). This offer is valid through May 31st, 2021. During this time, every purchase you make will be added to calculate your unique LIFETIME DISCOUNT as follows:

Important Note: Your lifetime discount will be calculated by adding all of your cumulative purchases (after discount is taken) made between March 15th and May 31st, 2021. Your lifetime discount will be activated on June 1st. Your lifetime discount cannot be combined with other future promotions. Other terms & conditions apply.

Is this truly a lifetime discount?
Yes! We know that awarding lifetime discounts to customers is unprecedented. However, so is the support we've received from our community. Above all, we believe in life-long relationships and are proud to reward Honorary Investors for life.

Happy shopping and I look forward to welcoming you as an Honorary Investor.

I have not yet received the shoes but if it comes to the same price as C&J, the customer service value, for me, surpasses whatever objective difference in quality of leather or construction. So far, CU gets a 10 in customer service.

Few questions --
  1. Do the shoes have welt fudging?
  2. For those who have worn the shoes longer-term
    1. What's the break-in period?
    2. How is the creasing?
    3. What about sole wear -- better than average, less than JR?
    4. Does anyone know a good place to get toe taps installed, or do you think it's not needed?
  3. Anyone tried the Drivers? Good without socks at half-size down?

Recommendations for CU
  1. More filtering options on the website.
  2. Offer toe tap installation.
  3. Offer JR sole upgrades.
  4. Offer recrafting services.
