Any recommendations for a cobbler in the Monterey Peninsula? I need to resole a pair of RM Williams boots.

There used to be a large, first-rate shoe repair in Monterey, the place advertised that they'd been voted best in America by someone at some time - I forget the name but ask at any shoe shop and if it's still in business they'll tell you where it is.

I don't think it's as good since Manzke left though.

SoCal, I take it you like the place?

W-B take their shoes to Federico's in Monterey (the place fits well-kept's description). Resoling was 50-, and takes only a day or two. I'll report back on Monday when I pick up the shoes.

SoCal, isn't home further South?

I picked the boots up today. To my eyes, they did a fantastic job. I had (with some trepidation) requested that they add rubber soles, as I've found myself wearing these boots frequently in inclement weather. The new rubber sole is only slightly thicker than the original, and I am happy with the outcome.

They applied edge dressing, redyed the exposed portion of the leather sole, and even touched up the upper in one place where I had damaged it by rubbing up against a curb. They did not shine the shoes, as I did not ask for this, so the shine you see is my own.
