I recently tried on one of their suit jackets in the San Francisco store. I was pretty impressed with the cut and the quality, but im not sure if it warrants the $800+. They are fairly new, only came out a couple months ago, but can anyone attest to how well their's has held up?

Why not just by RLP or RLBL on deal? Much better quality, same price point (or lower) on sale. I got myself a 2k RLP superfine wool peaked lapel suit last year for 800.00 on deal, in store. Black Label sale happens in June, which includes non staple jackets (linens, etc).

800 for CM, no way.

You gotta wonder when a company jumps from the $150 odd cotton casual jacket to an $800 suit. JCrew is doing the same thing, but started at the $650 price point and has some $200-300 jackets to compliment. Seems to have some success but then again they aren't exactly churning out new fabric choices monthly.

Does the RLBL happen in stores, online, all of the above? I'm hoping to get the CM on sale at some point, but i just want to know what price people think would be reasonable.

Plus, i know RLBL is made in Italy, which is great, but I appreciate the Made in the US of the CM

The whole reinvention of CM from minimalist Canadian brand toward "authentic Americana" is ridiculous. I do appreciate that they now offer clothes in more colours than White, Black, Khaki, and their chosen seasonal accent colour, but "Club Monaco, New York"? Who is Ralph trying to fool?

+1, I don't know how Much I trust casual midrange designers to put out a full canvas suit. Does made in the USA mean made by MG?

Both.

RLP & RLP are both made in Italy. RLP, for example, is made by corneliani. Both are available @ 30-40 off several times a year.

I would buy a CM coat as 50 off, even then 400.00 for CM?

My theory is that since J Crew has expanded their third party offerings to include brands like Belstaff and Alden, they are seeing a more upscale consumer who is willing to shell out some decent coin on suiting they deem of quality, based on the marketing the are exposed to, and what the sales staffs are trained to sell on.

Isn't Monoco owned by Ralph? If so, it's probably just a polo sourced coat from some rando american maker.

I always thought CM was more of the answer to Express/Banana Republic.

Just go get a RLBL or RLPL suit, much better, unless the CM goes on sale for 300

Club Monaco has fantastic sales/clearance. Everything makes it past 75% off. South Coast Plaza had full suits for less than $100 last year.

Well there you go, it really shows the true value of the suit if it drops that low. Guess that answers OPs question!

they have a number of items made in the usa and with other designers

Shoes from mark Mcnairy
shirt are from gittman
I will assume that since they are working with gitman
then the USA made suits are from their sister company, English american. These are made in maryland.

the suits could be from Southwick
