I am still trying to get the navy trench, but now they don't have the 40% off tho...
Wait which CM shirts feature MOP buttons? Last time I went it was the nasty yellow plastic ones mentioned earlier...
mmm...upon closer inspection they are MOP :O, but that still doesn't change the fact they are big and ugly
Surprised me too that they were MOP. Ugh so big & nasty!
Student discount at CM is a joke - went in yesterday with a valid (though old) student ID and they wouldn't accept it. Said I had to bring in a transcript or get a student ID that had an expiry date.
It's amusing to me, as 90% of my friends use invalid student IDs to get discounts there. Next time, I'll just get my gf to buy the clothes for me.
Whoever was helping you out was totally out of line. I've used a student with the spring 2011 date and they've processed the discount just fine. Can't believe that they asked for a transcript! Really? For 20% off? Psshhh, some people complicate the simplest things.
Maybe it varies by store. In Toronto, they seem to be getting stricter. My other friend was peppered with various questions about when she was graduating, what school she went to, what program, etc.
They actually asked me if I had an email on my phone proving I was in school. Like c'mon - it's only 20%.
OMG. Getting a discount for being a student is one thing, but being interrogated about your education is a little snobbish IMO.
That's so weird. I've never had that problem. But then again, it could vary by store, or even countries. I live in Texas.
This is not only insulting, but bad for business.
Sure, some (many?) people who aren't students use their old IDs, but many people like me are genuinely students. And guess what, my ID doesn't have an expiration date. That doesn't mean I have to endure a Gestapo-style interrogation just to save $10 or $20. Sorry, I don't carry my class schedule or transcripts around. I'd just as soon tell the sales person to piss off and not buy the item (or source it from another location).
The whole point of the student ID discount is presumably to generate loyalty with students by making your brand affordable, and they, in turn, will continue to spend in the years to come - especially when their income rises substantially after graduation. If you insult them and make it a pain-in-the-ass process, you're just creating ill will towards your brand.
At some point, you'll stop looking like a student anyway. If the ID is valid, they should accept it, no questions asked. Questions should be reserved when, say, something looks like a forgery or whatever. But those cases are probably rare & extreme.
is this the trench you mean? (not my blog)
i have it. bought it during black friday 2011, when they ran the extra 30% off sale items (it was already marked down to $199, and ended up being $140). i think it runs large, and found the XS to fit surprisingly well (slim in torso and sleeves, not tight, with the cropped length that's all the rage these days). i'm 6'1" btw -- they must have sized it to accommodate a blazer underneath. i quite like it, especially the fabric, because it's stiff enough to hold some structure (and flip up the collar when needed).
ya that's the exact one I want. i was able to find it and have them ship to me but it cost me $160 since I can only use my student discount. but M is pretty much sold out company-wide. so i decided to grab t. I do plan on wearing it under a suit, so it's perfect! can't wait to get it.
Does anyone know if CM sells dinner jackets? Don't have access to a CM store anymore, can't pop in to check.

that cardigan on page 37 is pretty interesting. also, all the models are wearing shoes from Rancourt & Co. wondering if they will carry those in store.
Lost out on a decent CM suit because ebay didn't process my second bid.
Funny you should mention a suit, as I was just admiring one posted on Street Etiquette. The guy in the middle is wearing Club Monaco. I'm sure he had it wel tailored, but the fit looks to be solid.
