It's apparent that they took care with the costumes in Casino.

The men's suits were well-fitted and in one of the scenes involving black-tie, all the bowties were of the hand-tied sort. In fact, the level of attention paid to clothing as a mark of character shows when they have a blackjack dealer looking desperate with an unfastened clip-on bowtie.

DeNiro's character also had interesting silk dress shirts that incorporated epaulets and a rather elaborate cuff.

It was a great style and detail film. Not my style, but ideal for the movie and reinforcing the leads character as a man in control of all details.

Great film. Great art direction and wardrobe.

LK, I seem to remember someone driving a 450 SL.

The sunglasses in that movie are a sight to behold.

One of those movies where we can ***** about the particulars of style all we want, but the fit was impeccable.

The scene where Sam took a meeting with the state government official and had to go to the closet to put his pants on...only someone from SF would understand that.

That particular scene was great--there was also a detail shot of the turquoise carpeting and the two men's shoes. I believe the official was wearing snakeskin cowboy boots.

Very true. Most of the styles, while badass, are very trendy for the period the movie is set in and look dated to me when you watch it. Deniro does have a couple very, very classic looks that would work today if you tamed the collar point length a little bit.

I will say Kevin Pollak's character (Phillip Greene) was definitely my favorite as far as wardrobe goes. Wide spread collars, hefty knots, and "Master-Of-The-Universe" three piece suits that were simply friggin awesome. SF has me windsor knot averse, but it just works for the outfits they put pollak in.

I have one such shirt, albeit without the idiosyncratic cuff

And I've been expecting you to post this thread for a couple of months - better late than never

I was under the impression that the clothing was done by Tom Ford - these being his Gucci years.
Any evidence of that?

Agreed. The movie captured the style of a bygone and best forgotten era, but someone obviously did their homework in creating the mood and atmosphere.
