I see many clothes, particularly pants on STP & VCH listed as "no tags" or "tags removed". I'm leery of buying these as it seems suspicious and I doubt their authenticity. Why is this done and can they be trusted?

You mentioned two sellers that are as reliable as death. The items you question are a very small part of the overall inventory of STP and Lance at VCH. There is absolutely zero to fear from purchasing any product from either seller.

It's most likely because the items were bought and then returned to a store.

If the trousers are unaltered then they probably haven't been worn, regardless of the lack of tags. If they've been altered then it's likely that they've been worn, in spite of the existence of tags. (of course, this pertains to tailored trousers which come unfinished)

+1

Usually, they just cut the tags (or remove them) so people can't return them after they buy them off ebay or an outlet or wherever.

I've seen this with books also. Used books have a black marker mark on them somewhere so people can't return them.
