Hey styleforum community, I was wondering if you guys take skin tone when shopping for clothes. Do you feel that you can't pull off a color because of your skin type? To give you some perspective, Im an olive tone. Would earthy colors be a good combination?

Great question. Skin tone can certainly have an impact on color choice. Hair color (or the absence of color) can also have an impact. Flusser discusses it in terms of "contrast". One of the better discussions of skin and hair color vis-a-vis color choice is recorded in this book

It's worth checking out as a reference.

^^^ Quite correct. Thank you. I realized this when the barber decided to shave my head a few months ago. A miscommunication with disastrous results!

What type of skin tone are you? And what are your preferred colors?

be careful with earthy tones and not matching them in a way that they swallow you up. i think navy and shades of blue really compliment every skin tone, and i've been trying to make a case that burgundy items do as well.
