I searched for it but (to my amazement) I didn't find anything on the subject:

What's the best way to clean (white) Chucks?

I just got my first pair (white hi-tops) and I don't want them to look fucked up like most people I see. I asked the sales assistant and he gave me a cleaner with which I can get rid of the dirt on the sole easily, but the canvas is another matter...
I heard about putting them in the washer, but somehow I doubt it'll do them good.

Well, here in Germany they are 60€.
Anyway, even if they were 40-30€ I'd prefer to have a way of cleaning them properly.

washer. i have a pair i put thru the washer at least six times while wearing them everyday for a couple years. i'll wear em every now and then. besides, a beat up pair of chucks looks better than brand new ones. they're $40, who cares

Bleach isn't a proper way of cleaning stuff?

I was mine in the wash machine along with a towel or two using regular soap and a very small amount of bleach. They look great.

If you've got time on your hands, toothbrush and toothpaste is what you want.

You guys probably know this already, but for that money, I'd ebay them, be it Chucks or Purcells. Every single time.

And get the Varvatos version while you're at it.

that's horrible. Half the appeal of chucks is they're so cheap. I'd look for different canvas shoes like vans, spring courts, etc. For $100 you could get better shoes.

How much are the varvatos converse there?

As I look at the Chucks on my feet now, I see that they are no longer white, not even close. At some point I'll put them in the wash.

I used OxyClean to get a stain out of a pair of white vans I have. I don't suppose they have that in Europe though, do they?

You don't want to clean them that much. Chucks are supposed to have a lived in look to them, in my opinion.

I agree. It's the only item of clothing I wear that I want to be dirty.
