1. Hi. We moved systems, and because it was impossible to achieve feature parity between the systems, we opted to archive the old B&S threads but allow users to read them so that they can put them into our new B&S system.

There is a support thread if you have any issues.

    Cheers,

    Fok.

Price includes shipping. The jacket is substantial and heavy.

Having recently tried on a recent overcoat from Eidos and seen similar pieces from Ring Jacket this year, namely strong herringbone pattern, I dug up this coat I bought as an undergraduate from the original Filene's basement in 1987 (Boston). I'm the original owner. I wore it during my undergrad days and then stored it for the past 25 years. It cost me $200 back then, a lot for a freshman, but it seemed more than warm enough for New England winters.

It certainly has an 80s vibe, but in a good way.

Here's a similar cloth in Eidos

It's in great shape; really a substantial, durable cloth. The cloth is, shall we say, beautiful: heavy, substantial, rustic, and yes, tweedy. I don't know the weight but I would guess at least 16oz and probably more. It will keep you warm. It's a grey/charcoal HB but flecks of rust and beige.

The coat is from Givenchy Monsieur and made in the USA. There are questions about Givenchy and the influx of French designer wear into the US during those years. That said, the cloth is the cloth: they did not cut corners and that's the draw here. It looks the same as it did almost 30 years ago. It will last.

I would love to keep it but unfortunately, I was young and naive and bought this at least three sizes too big! I'm guessing this is a US 46-48? See measurements.

Chest pit to pit: 24.5 inches
Length: about 50 inches, from BoC (long, I'm 6 ft tall and it is below the knees)
Sleeve (raglan) from center seam measuring closely along the edge, 36-36.5 inches.
Single vented, length from middle of bottom button to hem is 20.5 inches.

    I can verify measurements.

    It evokes a different time:

I should note two buttons are cracked on the front. There is one on the inside that can be moved out to replace the top cracked button (the bottom button is not really used and will be covered by the coat. Anyway, can be easily replaced. I'd prefer a brown set of horn buttons to pick up the rust mottling.

Just saw this pic of Mao Mao in a jacket of similar scale (no doubt his is bespoke).

It's cold out there. Anyone? Beautiful, thick, vintage coat.

To give you the vibe of the jacket.

I actually think that it might work well for a US 40-42 to preserve a certain classic look, in someone who is about 6' tall.
