How did those gel inserts work on the desert boots? To my surprise my Grey Suede arrived with black soles; it sorta ruins the look. I might return them and get some sand suede. This looks more like black than grey. The grey suede shoes I purchased last summer are a lot lighter, and while they come with what might be thought of as "pre-distressed" soles (sort of blackened on the edges), I think it makes them look more rugged. My chocolate brown suede DBs came with sole edges that were painted brown to match, and I like it. Makes them look a bit dressier, makes them more versatile, so they look great with casual-dress slacks as well as jeans.
