^ Isn't it the kind of sole that makes a desert boot a desert boot? Once you trade in the sole for leather, I think you have a chukka boot. For cheaper chukkas, I guess I would look at Loake.
I did a search for the Loake chukkas online, and from what I'm able to see they look quite all right. Do you know of a U.S. website or store in NYC that carries them?

Plal or pediwear, I believe. Looks to be around $250 for the ones I'd like.

    I was thinking Sand

Sand color is nice, but it can get dirty easily. Nice for 2nd pair IMO.

I think they were calling to get them for $14. I doubt it is realistic for you to seek them out at this point.

I tried a couple weeks ago at my local BR. They couldn't even order them in my size. I think the party is over.

    Bummer.
I'll try calling some places tomorrow.
Is it better to call local store vs. general customer service?

Inspired by this thread, yesterday at the shoemaker store and commissioned some bespoke desert boots.

    Wonder how they'll come out.

Bumped because these are awesome and probably a much better price than the OP midnight blue ones.

Thinking of getting a pair of these, how do they hold up in the rain?
