I always find black is a tough color for casual shoes. When the shoes get a worn in and faded they might start looking better with casual pants.

Black Desert boots as in suede or leather............I wear the former one with some gery jeans or sometimes even Oilve/army green coloured pants

My black suede DBs look best with darker denim. Agreed though, not as versitile as other colours.

Just ordered a pair of DBs in the taupe from a site called Houser Shoes. No tax in most states, free Fed ground. There's a 20% off coupon TWSAVE20.

Came out to $63. They only have the taupe though. Better than going through ebay.

Arrived yesterday... love the taupe. It's a darker than the sand, which many have commented look too white when new. Taupe is perfect from the get-go. The eyelets placement seem awfully low compared to my other chukkas. Felt like I was wearing a regular shoe as opposed to a boot.

I drilled one additional eyelet on each side and love the additional support around the ankle now. Strapped them on and took the dog for a short walk to break them in. Might go to a crafts store to look for metal eyelets that match but the suede is pretty sturdy as it is so I don't think the new eyelets will be a problem.

Was the hole punching really necessary?!

Of course not... I just like the feel of the higher lacing.

What to do about the slippage issue?

Do they sell heel inserts (like made out of gel or whatever)? My heels feel like someone took a power grinder to them if I'm in the DBs too long.

I am surprised some people have slippage issues with these boots. I never have. Is it possible that you're wearing too large of a size?

I have had my DB in taupe for a couple of months now and they're really looking nice. They are 1/2 size too big, but with insoles it's manageable. I'll probably replace them in a year or two.

Weird, I only occasionally get slippage but it's always mild and on the left heel. I wear a 7 1/2, and just from prodding around the toe I know I can't go any smaller without being uncomfortable. They're a great boot though, very classic and goes with everything, without appearing as if you're doing yourself up too much around school and other casual places.

So, anyone know about how much to get some DBs resoled with crepe?

I just recently wore completely through the original crepe sole and I don't really want to get rid of them seeing as how awesome they look. Lasted almost a full year too, as I bought them last thanksgiving.

Hi I just bought a pair of Taupe suede DB and I was wondering if they are supposed to be more brown or grey because I was under the impression it was grey, but the one i received was more brown. Also is there a suede taupe and a leather taupe? Appreciate the help! Thanks!
