Rocky Patel Old World Reserve: What say you guys? Good in general? Maduro or Corojo?

Not a fran. Only RP I can stomach these days is Patel Brothers, which are f*cking amazing, and a Vintage 1990 or 1992 once in a while. Find everything else too blah..

I don't like trying out new sticks anymore unless they come highly recommended so that is one I will look for. I think there are currently plenty of fine nics that one should have no trouble at all finding a good smoke no matter what their b&m carries.

Tom, 08 corona majors are one of the most underrated value smokes around I think...for the money it's really hard to beat them. I'm on box #2.
I smoked it right off the truck and it was wet, I can only imagine how much better they will be in about a month. Man, I wish I bought a few more boxes now! Have you had any from '09? Had a Punch Churchill, a LFDC Selectos (can't beat it for 1.50!) and finally a 7 year old Hoya de Nicaragua which was surprising great!

Red band or the new ones? I like both very much, and was pleasantly surprised the new blend was equally as good as the red banded, Pepin blend. Actually, planning on firing up a red band robusto when I get home from work tonight.

Last night I had one of the elusive Oliva V Maduros in a torpedo.

Great cigar, takes the nice complexity of the regular V and adds maduro sweetness. Worth picking up a few.

they are quite rare. my local guy said he ordered 7 boxes but will probably only get 2-3 because of the demand.

I wouldn't go out of my way to hunt them down but they are solid, like ama said complex and I'd like to add very rich which is what I found lacking in the Vs after awhile. I have two sitting in the humidor that I won't smoke for a month or two for more smoothness.

during an interview with Fidel, the interviewer asked him if he gifted Trinidads...

Shanken: Trinidad. We understand that it is a brand of cigar that is your own personal brand, which you give to diplomats and friends as presents.

Castro: No. I principally give Cohibas for presents.

Oliva V double robusto. Perfect ending after some beef tenderloin for dinner.

This is becoming my go to smoke.
