Which do you prefer of these two Church's Brogue's and why? The Burwood or the Grafton? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Mine are Graftons but ... very heavy and a bit clunky, I'd go with a more refined pair with haf sole

Grafton, because I don't like wingtip oxfords.

Thanks for your replies so far. The reason I ask this question is that my Church's dealer, who I like very much, ordered Graftons in Sandalwood Polished Binder for me from the factory but the Burwoods are the ones they delivered, and this took quite some months too.

Now I already have a pair of Burwoods in Burgundy Polished Binder that I haven't worn yet and also a pair of Nevada Calf Graftons that my helpful dealer has sent back for me as they have worn very thin very quickly at the front. I expected the Graftons to last a very long time having the double thick soles. Perhaps I just got a faulty pair and the ones I have aren't reflective of Graftons on the whole.

Anyway, with the above in mind, I decided to take the Burwoods as it would only take more time for the Graftons to turn up and I felt a bit sorry for my dealer. Can't help thinking I wish they'd delivered the pair I ordered, the Graftons, as I must admit I do prefer the chunkier looks of those. To me brogues aren't really elegant enough to wear with a suit and I prefer wear tham casually with jeans or chinos and Graftons look fabulous to my eyes and more suitable to wear casually. The Burwoods are very nice too but look more like a business or work shoe to my eyes and not what I really like in a shoe, especially at this price level. I like quality work shoes but would rather spend much less on these. In fact Loakes would be at the top of what I'd want to spend on work shoes. Oh IDK.

Forgetting about the Graftons I have for a second, would they normally last much longer than Burwoods with their thicker soles or is the sole somehow made from a softer material and they last about the same?

Leather made from the muscle membrane on the ass cheeks of a horse. Extremely durable, non-porous, and reflects light in an interesting way. Kind of a "glow". It is also very expensive. I believe the last time I check the Burwood was about $1,000 in shell cordovan.

If you do a search you kind find some excellent examples on this forvm.

Thanks for your reply. Very interesting. Just checked the box on my Burgundy Burwoods and they are Polished Binder as are the Sandalwood ones I now have.
