What's the criteria to get on the private sale list? Is it volume of items, or total $ spent?

I'm not sure. There is a MrPorter thread and perhaps you can ask there. I do frequently shop there, but I'm not buying $5000 jackets or anything.

Bah! So many great deals. Debating between Chetwynd, Consul, or JL William!

Recently my Dad purchased a new pair of brogue oxfords. I never knew he was into that style. I was distraught to discover he had gone and paid full price for a pair of Barker that appeared to be some kind of cheaper copy of the Chetwynd. I am a little embarrassed by my response but I was not happy that he didn’t consult me before making the purchase, as I could have got him such a better pair. In the end he heeded my advice and opted to return the shoes and go for a pair of Church’s. He went for the Berlin at the Church’s Outlet at Cheshire Oaks. Not ideal for me, as I prefer the classics (Chetwynd, Consul), but I do say that if you are going to buy a pair of shoes, opt for whatever you like from either Tricker’s, Crockett & Jones or Church’s.

Hey guys, need your Chuch's expertise on their models.

Are the Chetwynd and the Consul of higher make than their other models? Better leather, finishing?

What accounts for the price difference between those models and their other ones?

Your help is appreciated!

I found a pair of NOS pre-buyout Graftons in Sandalwood binder. This material always looked cheap in online photos, but I saw a few examples on the street, and decided it looked good in real life. fullsizeoutput_113c.jpeg

Entry level Church’s are the office collection. Berlin/Dubai etc. Elongated toe and average to good leathers.

The Consul and Chetwynd are the main line Church’s. It’s their classic styles that will always be made. They say the finest leathers but I’ve seen inconsistent uppers, so inspect and squeeze the leather. Classic round toe and traditional styles.

The highest at the moment is the Crown collection at around £1k. Slim lasts, hand stitched, hand burnish and fiddle waisted. Very nice but at that price point you might want to go for Edward Green or Gaziano.
