Who approves of chukkas, suede or calf, with winter weight suits as an alternative to oxfords ?

You tend to see these a lot in Borrelli A/W collections and I think they look quite good.

Or are they best left to odd jackets and pants, with or without a tie?

As to chukkas in another context - I think they look more solid, or manly or whatever with jeans than the current Italian trend of suede sneakers.

Thoughts?

Chukka boots are the single most versatile pair of shoes you can own. Nothing else can dress down to jeans and up to suits.

And just what may I ask do you have against shell chukkas is my thought?

Need to update picture with the newest family member, Mr. Ravello.

I do not normally wear them with suits as I have plenty of other shoes and boots. However I do approve of the look for those that do.

Slimmer suit calls for a chukka like the C&J Tetbury, or possibly even the Alden Leydon chukka

I sometimes wear chukkas with flannel suits when the weather conditions are nasty.
