Christmas Gift for Sister in Late 20s

Anyone have advice on a good gift for a woman (my sister) in her late 20s in the $250 range? I am working in Tokyo and will arrive in Los Angeles to see the family on Christmas day. Want to get something over the internet. I refuse to buy anything that has to be sized like a dress or pants and think it might be cool to get something worth $500 at a big discount. Whatever it is will be shipped to the parents' house in LA for a quick wrap job upon arrival. BTW my mother's family is Jewish and father's is Christian so we celebrate everything.

I would totally go for that (hey, that would be a present for me too!) but tricky to get one over the internet. Any serious replies? And never mind about getting a discount. I'm just trying to find something she'll appreciate and not want to return. She's kind of chubby, likes art and alternative stuff but is obviously no longer a teenager

Get her a purse, they seem to make all women happy. You can find good deals anywhere, but off the top of my head, Language in Chicago (http://www.shoplanguage.com/) has some good sales, and they are offering an additional 20% off (code is "extra20") and free shipping. Those Joana Louca bags are a great deal, though you'd have to know your sister's tastes well. Can't go wrong with the Dunlin's Lafayette, which retails for $780, and is about $550 on sale. My friends in the NYC fashion industry (those who still have jobs anyway) love this bag. Anyway, there are tons of deals out there right now. Happy hunting. PS I have no interest in the store, I just happened to do some X-mas shopping there recently.

Why don't you just give her cash, and let her spend it the way she wants?

Yeah. It shows that alot of thought went into the gift...

(even if you thought alot and came up with this, thats what it says.)

Another point is that with 250 bucks in her pocket she doesnt think of you at all. with a gift she does. I know someone who is avery generous giver who stopped giving cash because noone remembers that you gave them cash. buy them a sofa they remember. Give them 2000 and noone remembers.

.. and tell her: these 250 are like 500 with a 50% discount!

If she doesn't have a friend in the late 20s, buy her a dildo. She will never forget (and never forgive?!)!

Hahahaha. Wow, that's quite an odd gift for a sister...

Personally I feel like a bag is a great idea, if you can remember what kinds of bags she has/likes then that will help steer you towards a better choice. Depending on where she lives perhaps a really nice scarf and gloves could do the trick, especially with winter just around the corner.

Hey, thanks for all the replies! I'd be afraid to buy her a bag for $250 because she probably would not like whatever I chose, but she does like spas/massages...
