--- Chris is pretty new to the image hosting as he prefers his needles and threads. But we got this pic today of his awesome polo coat. It's elegant yet has an individual flair. Enjoy:

Chris writes and describes it below as:

Finaly took some pictures of the wrap coat from Sophistication's request.
I like to find garments with an historical relevance that are not seen today and create them with a modern feel. The modern touch is using a 12 oz cashmere, more jacket weight than topcoat weight. Its perfect for running around downtown Chicago.

This coat was used between periods of play in polo matches, when players were just standing around. They would throw on these bathrobe-like coats to keep warm. The coat eventually evolved to having buttons, frame pockets, half belt, cuffed sleeves. From the Polo association it came to be called a "Polo" coat.

M.Mathew is the Super Model,

This is it, cheers or jeers

This evening I watched one of my favourite movies, Neil Simon's "Murder by Death" with Peter Sellers, Peter Falk, David Niven, Alec Guiness, Maggie Smith, James Cromwell etc...

Anyways, I notices that David Niven sported a polo coat like that above in many of the scenes. The picture at the following link isn't from Murder by Death, but it's still David Niven in a polo coat.

Fabulous...I'd just be worried that the cashmere'd wear out too quickly. Then again, I guess if you can afford one of these babies this year, you can do so again next year.

And Matthew, perhaps you could consider a side career on the runway!

I recall FNB on the AskAndy once tried to obtain white camel although it bore no fruit.

The coat I saw, in a film, was with very prominent shawl lapels.

Love the lapels, and the model appears to be smiling with the smile of one who has attained sartorial moksha. Bravo.

Dormeuil has white cashmere in their line. Only place I have seen it. Very costly to produce. I've heard stories about closing the entire mill when weaving to keep lint or anything in the air from contaminating the cloth.

I have made two of these coat for clients, both opted for navy blue cashmere and shawl lapels. Both had a more relaxed, robe-like feel to them but also elegant.

Well the poor beast was stuck in customs for so long he yellowed!

I would prefer off-white cashmere. I actually have some of Dormeuil's white 12 oz cashmere for a sports jacket which is very elegant. I prefer the sand color for the topcoat or overcoat.
