1st time poster, long time lurker.

Trying to find a nice chocolate/dark brown suit for summer (cotton? poplin? not quite sure)...I'm usually a j.crew/brooks bros. type of guy, so looking to keep it in that price range...

I've been looking around and can't find any stores that carry it and/or online stores...any suggestions??

Thanks

I feel like chocolate and summer don't really compute. You don't want to be out in the sun and turn into a pool of melted chocolate deliciousness.

I browsed the J Crew site real quick and didn't see anything you might be looking for. Pretty sure H&M offers a cotton or linen chocolate brown suit. The cut is slim and the quality isn't great...

I have seen excellent brown linen and wool fresco. I would not rule out cotton either. Though, all other things being equal, brown is not my first, second or third choice for a summer color.

Exactly. Brown for me would just be ahead of a black suit for summertime wear....

thanks...maybe summer suit isn't the best descriptor. Just don't want a wool suit and was thinking that a brown cotton-type suit jacket could also work well with khakis/jeans

Brown linen is much nicer looking than brown cotton.

I have a neat piece of brown fresco with a heathered effect in the cloth, tiny little blue (and some other colors) flecks. It is nice. Not made, though.

Do you have a photo? It sounds interesting.

It's a terrible picture, sadly. I took it outside to get a true to life representation, but the sun washed out the color instead. It is a much richer brown and not so gray looking:

Also, it is 3x3, which is unusual.

I just bought a piece of brown linen, but only for trousers. Minnis 11/12oz Irish linen, colour is called rope, bottom one:

the brown "flesco" pictured is what I had in mind...pardon my ignorance but is that a custom piece of clothing? Any ideas for a place to look for an off the rack version of something similar?

Yeah, customish. I dug around a bit, but cannot find off the rack brown suits anywhere. Especially not in fresco. I don't think anyone makes off the rack in fresco.
