What are some good places to buy jeans in Chicago? I really only want to buy non-distressed jeans, so a lot of what is sold in some of the streetwear stores is not for me (I'm not 22 anymore, alas). All suggestions appreciated.

You could try the Levi shop downtown on N. Michigan Ave.

Go up to Madison to Context.

Hejfina has APC and Cloak, but they're pricey. Nice people though.

jean shopping in chicago is pretty weak. If you want to take a drive about 40 minutes north of chicago, there is a store called E Street Denim. They have more jeans then you can ever imagine and they just got in some nice raw prps jeans and cheap mondays. Ask for Bill, he will take care of yo.

Untitled carries Nudie (there's two stores: one on North Ave, the other... someplace else) as does Jake (also two stores). Hejfina and Penelope's carry APC. Hejfina also does stuff like Rag & Bone and Corpus. And there's a truckload of raw deadstock Levi's/Lee/Wrangler at this resale shop on Milwaukee and North.

What happened with AE? My personal favorite is Jake, besides a lot of denim, they have an awesome sale a few times a year, and many of their other pieces are really interesting too.

They owe us a bunch of money (6 months of fees), refuse to pay, and won't return any phonecalls or emails. I'm sure that the people in the store may be cool, but the management is not very well organized, and the CEO is a straight up dick. Told me on the one phonecall we had that he would personally handle the situation, and never heard from him again, despite repeated attempts to contact him. It's pretty easy to be a nice when someone is forking over money. Character comes out when it's your time to pay...

Yea, I can totally understand that. I returned something to them and it took like three weeks to get the chargeback on my card. I was almost at the point of opening a dispute with my credit card company over it. Eventually it happened, but I learned my lesson. And despite having a big selection online, their stuff isn't nearly as interesting as the likes of Jake in Chicago, nor as extensive as other online retailers like Revolve (who happen to be the best to deal with).

How does the downtown Jake's compare to the Southport branch? I'm very familiar with what the Southport store carries, but have never been to the downtown one. I hear the selection is different. Anything particular to be aware of?
