Does anyone here regularly consume the Mexican Chia Seed?
I am halfway through reading 'Born To Run' by Christopher McDougall and in this rather entertaining book, he talks briefly about a super seed grown in Mexico called 'Chia'. A long lost tribe of super Athletes he goes looking for in the book; make a drink out of this seed with water, sugar and lime juice called 'Chia Fresca'. The seed is meant to be extremely high in Omega 3s and 6s, Calcium, Caffeine and other stuff and is a staple of this super tribe.
One of my concerns with all of these super foods is that they usually do not tell you that you need to eat a ton of the stuff before it has any measurable benefit.
Interested in thoughts or experiences. Let me know what you think
Also interested in any recipees and technique for the Chia Fresca beyond what I stated above.
