I know, you're a busy man, always on the go, never with enough time to settle down with snifter of brandy by the fire and rip the entire lining out of your Chester Barrie sport jacket. Well, prepare yourself for a very rich, if virtual experience. Â The below item was in fact purchased, pre-ripped, for a fat $5 at an undisclosed location in the Bronx. Â A previous thread pointed to the jacket being at least 30 years old, as Gieves has gone with Hawkes since 1974. Â And some folks wanted to see what the thing looked like, inside and out. So here it is. [IMG] Chester Barrie label: [IMG]

For those curious to see jackets in an incomplete stage of manufacture, stores in the USA such as (some) Saks and Neiman-Marcus locations may have partially completed Oxxford jackets on display. These jackets have no sleeves, exposed lapel canvas, no lining...and quite a few handmade stitches for us to see.

This is not the case here. The jacket is now fucked up. You just can't get CB jackets the way you were able to anymore; sad really. [IMG] Jon.

Not irretrievably, according to Ramon at Wilfred's on 23rd St.  The jacket lacks a lining but the guts are still there.  Re-lining would increase the price of the jacket about thirtyfold.  I'm thinking about it, as I like the plaid and the style and the thing fits.  However, if I need to spend money on tailoring, there are other items that will look good with less work, so those are the ones I'm bringing in now.
