I'm in the market for a new pair of Chelsea boots, replacing a terrible pair that have finally reached their end.

I'm hoping someone with experience of the Herring Coltham http://www.herringshoes.co.uk/produ...&catid=109&oldcolid=435&stype=0&colourid=3856 can shed some light on their shape and height. They seem to be among the best options in my price range, but I'm not sure about their shape. I've never seen them in person, so I can judge only by what I see on the website. Is it just a matter of angle and perspective, or are these unusually tall Chelsea boots? Or is it the tapering at the top that makes them look taller? I'm used to Chelseas hitting right around the ankle. These look like they hit somewhere along the lower shin. My question: are they really that tall, or do they just look that way in the picture? And is the heel more stacked as well?

The same questions go for the very similar Loake Petworth http://www.herringshoes.co.uk/produ...&catid=22&oldcolid=4138&stype=0&colourid=4137. I'm guessing they're so similar because the Coltham is made by Loake.

Among the others out there, my favorite is the Septieme Largeur Basile, but fortunately they're sold out in my size, which makes the fact that I can't afford them easier to accept. The Markowski Honore is also nice, and also too pricey. The Grenson Declan is a possibility, but my sense from reading here and elsewhere is that they're overpriced.

I'm looking for something a bit more on the casual side (less pointy, less shiny). That makes the Bexley Flager a possibility, too, http://www.bexley.com/Bexley/en/p/dress_shoes/flager?coloris=noir but reports I've read of their quality have been a bit discouraging.
