Chelsea boot fit?

Here's my problem at the moment...

I just got the Ben Sherman Myas Chelsea boots from Topman in a US size 10. My question is how are Chelsea boots ideally supposed to fit? I understand that they're supposed to be snug, but... my main question is about the length of the shoe, and how far one's foot should extend into the point of the toe.

Any guidance or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Fit is really a different issue from how much room past the toe there is.
Those look fairly long and a pointy so you might have an inch or two of space past your toe.

The most important measurement is from the heel to the bone of the large toe because that is where the shoe bends and is why you must measure this and not just the overall length. There should also be a thumb's width space in the front of the shoe, more if it's a more tapered shoe. And of course the width should be correct too. A traditional Chelsea boot is an ankle boot and should be about 5.5" high.
