My first job was at an ice-cream parlor that had Cheerwine on tap. I think I nearly OD'ed on it that summer.

I guess I would call it a sort of cherry-flavored cola, but that is not quite accurate.

it's cherry-ish, but not cherry-flavored. it's almost like cherry cream soda.

Well, Cherry Coke is sort of like Coke, but with cherry flavor added.

Cheerwine is more like, um, Sprite(?), but with the citrus replaced with cherry. It doesn't have that brown cola-ness that Cherry Coke or Cherry Pepsi have. It's really not a competitor to them. It's more of a competitor with a peach soda I guess. I guess originally it was more like "cherry-flavored soda-water" than "cherry flavored cola."

It is probably one of the most-carbonated soft drinks. Cheerwines are notorious for having higher carbonation and spewing more viciously than any thing this side of champagne.

It's my favorite soft drink. I had one the morning commute. It's a favorite in Virginia and the Carolinas, with distribution stretching slightly beyond there now. Still a regional drink.

HH man,

AHH man, If I could have found more in glass bottles I would have cleaned the places out. When I was in NC and far northern GA this summer, I grabbed 3-4 everytime we stopped for gas. The vintage bottles are great, and I LOVE this soda.

I would say the most widely bottled soda i can compare it to is Dr Pepper, but really the Dr Pepper taste is very subtle.

I would say the brands own description of it as 'a cherry different soda' is pretty accurate.

Like cherry-flavored Dr. Pepper. Sold throughout the South. I have searched in vain for a good mixer. I know from an extended camping trip that whiskey is not it, no matter how hard you try.

I am not sure which is my favorite regional soda; Vernor's or Cheerwine. I think I might give the nod to Vernor's as a Beam and Vernor's took me through college.

I had a Cheerwine a few hours ago before I left work. It's definitely one of my favorite sodas.

Wow, I didn't even know Vernor's was regional. It's not found outside the South?
