Any advice or reason to stay away from a $500 tourbillon unknown (milton steele?) mechanical watch?

It probably can. There are several companies offering cheap tourbillons produced in China. The high prices of tourbillons are because of the status and the handwork, but they can be machine-made just like pretty much everything else. However, they are not going to be very good and if (when) they do break there's no way you're going to get it fixed. Nice toys but you have to realize you're buying a toy and not a watch.

Well, I agree with both WN2 & NR to a certain point. There are incredible quality watches coming out of China, including tourbillions. However, the biggest problem is that many so called tourbillions are just open heart watches that the resellers label as such. There are also legitimate tourbillions that can occasionally sell for that little on eBay but that is rare.
Go over to Watchuseek.com, check the Chinese Mechanical Watch forum, someone may know what movement that watch uses, if it is legitimate.

Yes its a Chinese made tourbillon! I like tourbillons but don't/can't fork out for something expensive...and the watch looked very nice too...so I'm considering it

To me those watches are kind of depressing... but if it turns your crank, buy it.
