These guys ha e a great YouTube channel too but loik like they would take on any of the Northampton brands.Well, if I have to mail my shoes, they might as well go back to Cheaney.
Cheaney is my favourite brand but I did sell up a few pairs of 8.5 including a pair of Avons. Some of my other 8.5s fit really well but I'm now preferring to mitigate with thicker socks etc than hurt my feet trying to stretch to fit.Bought these Avons 7.5F on leather soles. The length of the shoe is just fine. However, they are really tight along the top of the foot (so along the instep). I've been breaking into these shoes and have worn them now on several occasions. But the problem persists and remains. Anyone else experienced this problem with the Avon model? Could this be a case of a shoe last (12508) simply not suiting one's foot shape?
No stretch at all over 5 years and a resole.I'm in the process of diving deeper into the rabbithole of fine shoes from Loake 1880s to Cheaney Imperials, in particular the Saxon loafers. I was struck by how much thicker and stronger the leather is and how much snugger the fit is.
In fact, I may have underestimated the latter even though I went a half size up. I was wondering how much Cheaneys, in particular Imperial Collection shoes stretch when they break in. I found my Loake loafers stretched a lot when breaking in so I had to buy them extra snug to get a good secure fit once fully broken in.
I get the impression from its thickness, that the Cheaneys won't really stretch much during break-in? If so, I think I might have to go another half size up, which will be the first time I have worn my actual Brannock size for dress shoes in over a decade.
