Thanks for the info. I’ve just ordered it.

I’m impressed with their online sale this year. A lot of models at under €300.

I have my Hoggs boots by Cheaney, but I find the more I look at Cheaney and its sturdy Englishness, the more I want to keep looking. As a Northants man familiar with all the footwear of your county, how do they compare with others in terms of quality? I imagine you have formed a list by now. Thank you. :)

Were these from the recent sale? I wish they had 5.5 as some of their lasts run large on me.

They were factory shop but not specifically on the sale rack. They are a line not on the website - Silverstone Brogue Burgundy 6184 last.

I tend to buy Cheaney because there is nearly always something different and to my taste when I visit the shop. I've not found that with other Northampton brands but others might. I've bought more than a dozen pairs all in the last 2 years. I am in between 2 sizes and there are just a couple that I bought too tight and haven't been able to wear in. Everything else has a use and I reckon I now have Cheaney boots or shoes for pretty much every occasion.
    Other brands :
I ruled out John Lobb and Ed Green on price.
Crockett & Jones, Church and Trickers are broadly comparable but haven't really grabbed my attention yet. I have 1 pair of Crokett.
Sargents, Grenson and Loake don't have a local outlet.
Barkers have a large factory outlet but haven't really impressed me.
NPS have a factory shop and are lower price and possibly worth a look.
Sanders seem to have some attractive shoes online which they sell direct but again no shop. Maybe someday.

    Hello, nice shoes.

Please can you post more details (model, last) and the 2/3 and 3/3?

    Regards

I've largely ended up with more cheaneys due to the fit characteristics. It's funny to think there could be such "basic" differences, but I own 4x pairs of crocketts and in every case the instep is a little too high, and there seems to be excessive material over the vamp, meaning the crease rather unattractively over the top of my foot.

The three pairs of cheaneys I have, all fasten nicer across my instep, and have significantly less bunching of leather across the vamp, they just seem to fit my foot shape generally better than any of the crockett I own.

Upper volume has often been an issue for me, as my foot rapidly loses height as it approaches my toes and then flattens out. I don't need a lot of volume above the toe area.

They didn't look impressive on the display - lacked the elongated style of the 205's etc. My wife insisted I try them on and I was glad I did.

    2/3 to follow. :)

    2/3 of recent acquisitions.
Boughton Chukkas in pony suede. 225 last. Dainite sole. I also have these in mahogany grain leather from a while back.

Interesting as my experience with Cheaney is they are more voluminous than C&J. Must be the last. I don't do the 205 as it's too long. When I tried the 130 I found it to have more volume than all my other shoes. The last is quite conservative. A little too round for my taste but I'll eventually get wear out of them and decide if I want to resole or retire.
