You're right, too similar. I somehow prefer the Elliot as a last and overall look.
The aesthetic is so similar to me that I think it’ll come down to colour. I weighed them in and the Crocketts are heavier which is often a sign of better internals. The welt stitch count on the Crocketts is notably higher too although this is irrelevant in the real world. My feeling is that the TSG is the more versatile colour of the two…

Go for your gut feel, it's mostly right. The Elliot looks a little more sleek and elegant to me, judging from your picture.

That's it. 👍🏻

It is, but you need to directly compare them to get it. In the flesh / on the man / in the streets they are effectively of the same character. I mean, it's not a Country boot, it's a Town-style and last.

My feeling is that the TSG is the more versatile colour of the two…

Agreed, it's less special. 🤡😜 The brown, the colour. The Coniston itself is a star just the same.

My gut says keep both…

That's what I do. When I ordered the Mahogany Grain Elliott I knew, that it was essentially 'another Coniston'. TSG, DBSG and now MSG. 😉
It was all about the colour, which is soo cool.

Sadly, I’ve decided not to keep the Elliot boots. Wonderful boots, but in a straight shootout with the Conistons they were never going to win.

I’ll have to get my mahogany fix elsewhere 😉
