In case this is helpful to anyone, I enquired with Cheaney about the difference between F & G fit 125 last and they sent me this table of "approximate" measurements.

Thanks for sharing this. I looked at Cheaney's own fitting guide, and the results made no sense (seems to be the same case also with C&Js website guide). With my measurements, according to their website guide, my recommended size would be UK10 H fit, even though all of my shoes are regular UK 8 or UK 8,5. This chart makes more sense.

And a few others. Please excuse the messy laces. I always have to add longer laces to Cheaney boots and couldn't be bothered to tie them nicely. They're in their "natural" state :)These are the Elliot2 Mahogany, Milburn in English Tan CXL and a lug sole (it came on an EVA white sole), Richmond ii in Stead Janus suede, Rustique colour and it is the original Vibram Vi-lite sole, Trafalgar in burgundy and original dark leaf colour with Vibram Vi-lite and Tweed with Stead Eco Husk leather and Vibram Vi-lite sole

No problem. I think its extremely difficult for manufacturers to issue an accurate size guide because foot shape can make such a huge difference to the size required for the same length feet.

Both the Cheaney and C&J guides are very appropriate for my feet, giving a size 10 and 10.5.

If my big toes pointed outward rather than inward (mine look like I've been walking around barefoot for 40 years), and we're a little narrower, I'd be wearing a size or more smaller.

Conversely, the Meermin size guides would put me in a shoe at least a size (probably more) too small.

Interestingly, both C&J stores I've been to in London have tried to put me in a 9.5 after measuring, which is an entire size too small. I learnt this out the hard way buying my first ever pair of Goodyear welted shoes (some Molton boots) in a 9.5.... took my feet about 6 months to return to normal after the damage done trying to "break them in"...
