Hello,

I am also thinking about ordering the burgundy Hannover Balmoral boot. How is the sizing?

I wear a UK 7,5 on the Crockett & Jones 373 last in the handgrade collection. This is also a last with a chiseled toe.

I have a rather slim and flat foot with a normal instep and relativly low volume overall, give the length of my feet at a size EU 41 to 41,5 or UK 7 to UK 7.5.

Best regards

Pascal

I'm sitting here waiting for my bronze espresso Hannover boots. They should come any minute.

I have all 3 of the available colors. I am a size US 9.5 and the UK 8.5 fits me just fine. Very comfortable.

Thanks Tim,

hence a UK 7.5 should fit me well.

Best regards

Sorry to change my story but now that the boots have arrived, I find them incredibly tight, extremely hard to put on when laced. I had to unlace the boot half way in order to get it onto my foot. Maybe my memory has faded but I do recall leaving the trees in the last set of Hannover boots I got from Cheaney for a few days to try to stretch them out. The trees went in today very tight so I'm hopeful after a few days it will create a bit more space.

I'm sorry to not be all that helpful. I have no problems wearing my black and burgundy Hannovers. These espresso ones seem to be constructed differently.

The burgundy ones I am interested in. Espresso also looks very nice.
I like a tight fit at the beginning as the leather loosens and then I have less creases above my flat, low volume forefeet.

I would wear the Balmorals even with my dressy dark indigo jeans and chinos with a blazer.

They are very sharp looking, all of them. I bought the black ones first because that was the only color that Cheaney had in my size. I picked up the Burgundy next as I wanted to try some color. Finally just this week I got the espresso and they look spectacular. Polished I can bet they would be even more impressive.

My older pairs are very comfortable to wear. I hope the espresso pair gets to be the same way. They sure do start out frighteningly tight.

Thanks Tim Apple,

I like a tight fit in the beginning, because with the losening and adapation of the leather I have less creases in the forefoot above my low-volume forefoot and toes. I also bought shoes to large, which I realize now after wearing them in for a year, as I was used to larger shoes for which I had to put in othodontics. The orthodontics I no longer need.

Best regards

Pascal

Over the last thirty months I have bought eight pairs from Cheaney for my wife and myself. I think they are a bit above entry level. While not C&J quality they are better than Loake and their imperial collection fits me well.

I took advantage of their last sale in December buying another pair from their imperial collection. The shoes had clearly been worn and were soiled/damaged but sold to me as new (see photos). This put me off Cheaney but they had a good deal in their recent sale so ordered and paid in full (actually two entries on my credit card for the purchase). Three days later get an email to say they don’t actually have the boots I have bought and paid for.

Cheaney seem flavour of the month just now in some quarters. Don’t know if the downturn in customer service is due to expansion or if others have similar experience?

Hello guys,
I currently have chelsea boots 11 from Crockett & Jones but unfortunately they are too roomy for my foot around toe in width and also in height. So I am looking for similar looking suede chelseas which are more snug and I found Godfrey D Chelsea Boot in Plough Suede in last 125.

Is there someone who have them and can describe fit or compare it with C&J 325 last if it possible? Also if can take some real photos how they looks it would be great. Thank you.

That actually looks bad for "new" shoes, even in a sale. I would return them.

My experience with C&J is outstanding! Their service is great and even the sale of a "second" is a shoe I just cannot find any visible flaw in.

Loake also is nice in their customer service. The service from TLB Mallorca is also good, as well as from Carmina.

Best regards

They might have been “try ons” and as such will have creasing and the odd spot on the insole. It’s common for try ons to be sold as “sale” shoes. Not sure what’s going on with the linings though. If you’re happy with the shoes I’d keep them, after all they don’t offer that model anymore and within a few wearings you’ll put more creases in them.

Thanks for sharing. I would be disappointed too at such occurrences.

Cheaney sure are expanding and growing as a business. As one of their store managers said to me over the summer: "its nice to grow but not grow too much i think. I mean, its good to try and grow but not so quickly"

Cheaney are also attempting to bump up their pricing lately to Trickers/C&J level (which i think cannot be justified).
