Thank you very much, your review is quite extensive, I am thinking going for the black ones,

I own a pair of Bodiley's Markham made by Cheaney in the last BOD205 which is quite sleek and looks great, the toe is a little more chiseled. I also own a pair of Harpole (also by Cheaney) bought from Shipton & Heanege which where my first pair of dub monks and I love them, the last is wider and does not have chanelled soles or such a waist, they are very comfortable.

I hope Cheaney keep making their more affordable lines. I will come back with pictures.

Regards

I was thinking of trying the 175 Cheaney last.

I've bought both the AE Mac on #7 last and the Cheaney longwings from Herrings (can't remember the name) on the 175 last. The shape and proportions were virtually identical. I didn't keep them because neither work well for me. The size equivalency was #7 in 10E = 175 in 9.5F.

I normally I wear a 10.5D in north American sizes, so 9.5 is my UK size, but for some reason 10E in Allen Edmonds fits me best, hence the strangeness of that size comparison. Anyways, the 175 last is very "American" in shape if you know what I mean.

I'm not making any guarantees about this, just my observations!

Cheaney don't get nearly as much attention as they should, IMO. The leather quality has increased over the last few years and the quality control, while not perfect, is on a par with Church and not far behind C&J and Trickers. I have a penchant for EGs so my bar is set quite high by those.

Anyway, maiden voyage for a pair of Deal in a lovely shade of burnished mahogany grain. I wasn't intending to wear them, but it started raining and they are in a Dainite sole, so why not!

Having just started to stock Cheaney again I can't help but agree. Some of the colours in their conker and dark leaf shoes are just wonderful. We are going to visit the factory early June and of course I will have to wear a pair when I go. Current favourite is the Avon in Dark Leaf, but I might be swayed by the Veldtschoen Ribble even though it isn't quite the season for them. We don't stock the Deal but if I didn't already have a very similar looking pair of Paraboots, they would have definitely been worth considering.

How was your maiden voyage??

A little over halfway through the day and they are very comfortable. Just had a look at your site - I might have to drop in if I'm venturing from South Yorkshire to West Yorkshire! You stock some lovely stuff.

Sure, what else would you like to know? The colour is a shade darker than it looks in these pictures.

I'll be sure to post pictures of my other Cheaneys as they work their way round my shoe rotation.

They're amazing. Might need to pick a pair myself as I've been keen on a pair of grey shoes now for a while.

Have said it a few times before, but will reiterate once more. The 11525 from Cheaney is an amazing last.

Today was a boot day - balmorals.

Westminsters, made by Cheaney for Bodileys, in dark brown burnished calf, which has a really nice reddish tinge to it.
