Cheaney Shoes Quality

Hi guys,

Can anybody comment on the general quality of Cheaney shoes? How do they compare to AE?

In my opinion they are superior to AE and Alden in terms of construction quality, finishing, detailing and they use a nice thick piece of leather for the insole which is extremely rare these days. I have owned shoes from all three brands and I have kept the Cheaney shoes and sold off or gave away the AE and Aldens.

Cheaney shoes are good for their price, don't expect they are better than C&J/ Vass......

However they are very well made, imperial line have the generous last ever.

I owned a pair of wholecut oxford, my first pair of fiddleback waist, it was a great buy.

I own one pair of Cheaney shoes (purchased in 2001, but still going strong) and two pairs of AEs. My general impression is that Cheaney is at least a level above AE. The last is more elegant and the construction seems a tad more robust.
