Hello

I am in the market for an adelaide and I have narrowed it down to :

1. Loake Export Grade Trinity
2. Cheaney Fenchurch

The price difference between the two is only GBP 60 so its not much of a deciding factor, both fit very well, I just need help deciding which is of better value. The Loake although this is their highest quality grade, is probably made in India and closed in Northampton, whereas Cheaney as a brand is head and shoulder better than loake, but I find this particular Loake quite appeasing to the eye, especially the sole work, the flat laces, and the tighter waist (at least tighter than this cheaney)

I am not sure which has better leather, soles and stiffeners quality wise though

I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks and Stay Safe!

The Loake is hand made in Northampton. Is the upper made in India? Possibly, but most uppers are manufactured elsewhere nowadays.

Uppers are made in india, only the closing is done as northampton, that does not ring english to me. Also, only Loake and Barker are doing this out of the northampton makers, the rest are fully made in the UK

Sorry i forgot about Grenson, but then, Grenson explicitly state which lines are made in India and which ones are made in the UK.

I like Loake, especially this export grade line theyve got which is beautiful in terms of aesthetics and IMHO beats CJ benchgrade in that regard

I just need some advice with regards to leather quality and overall value compared to the Cheaney

Given their price point, and the promotional blurb. I would imagine Export Grade are entirely made in Northampton. Email and ask?

I was in London last November, when I tried these on in the Loake Shoreditch Boutique, I really liked them.

I asked the salesman on duty that day whether these were made in India (I tried the Export Grade Toe cap, I believe called the Hanover), he said i suspect they are, yet it is the same practice among most of the shoemakers here (UK). Now I do not know whether he had made an informed statement or he was just speculating.

I actually just got a reply on their instagram page regarding this subject. They indeed are made in India and then are lasted and closed in Northampton.
