that is a trick i've used for years, since they price it essentially 2 to 1 from gbp to usd.

Only really works when ordering 4 shirts or more valuable stuff

No no, I didn't mean that at all. I like the fit and I'm relieved that they aren't more slim; I couldn't handle any more. If anything I could do with a tad more chest and shoulder room, but they're comfortable enough, and the waist fits well.

Not to sound like a tool, but I lift weights regularly and have a large drop from shoulder to waist. My chest isn't small either. Some (most) of the "extra slim" shirts I've tried in the past are far, far to tight in that area. I am happy with these.

Yes, I'm a 16, but that would of course be a problem. I'm holding my breath until I wash them (no dryer obviously) to see how much they shrink. Hopefully it's very minimal, otherwise I'll have to step up to a 16.5 for CT.

As there's not really an "official" CT thread on SF, I figured I'd post this here:

I received four shirts today (they gave me free Priority delivery to the U.S. after the whole discount debacle from above--a $30 value, not bad), and noticed the collars are now much softer. This is a good thing in my mind, as CT collars were previously pretty stiff. The shirts are all spread collar by the way, and everything else (shape, size, etc.) seems the same, they're just now much softer. Anyone else noticed this?

I don't have prior experience with CT, but in my four shirt order I received one spread collar. The spread collar is much softer than the collar on the other three shirts.

Interesting. I'll bet the non-spread collars you received are the same in terms of stiffness as all my previous CT shirt collars. Just out of curiosity, do you prefer the stiffer or softer collars?

I prefer a stiffer collar as they hold up better under a jacket. However, the spread collar I got from them seems fine, it's not being crushed when I wear it with a jacket.

I don't know if this has been posted before because I haven't sifted through the entire thread, but shirtdetective.com made a table comparing the measurements of the Charles Tyrwhitt and Brooks Brothers "Extra Slim Fit" shirts.

Some people have also mentioned that the measurements of the Brooks have become slightly more slim recently, and I don't know if this reflects the present measurements exactly. Either way, it should give a rough idea of the fit comparison.

Does anyone have experience with Tyrwhitt's chinos? They have both normal and non-iron ones. Any thoughts?

My easy iron white poplin slim fit finally arrived last night; besides being ecstatic that an otr shirt fits without a hitch (muscular build) the fabric is actually pretty decent and not that horrible see through material, not too shabby Charles Tyrwhitt.

This is quite helpful. I believe the CT chest measurements you're using for this are labelled as "to fit chest" measurements vs. the actual dimensions of the shirt, so it will be slightly bigger in the chest than the chart would indicate.

I didn't make that, but I believe that's a possibility. I haven't really tried the CT shirts or taken the measurements myself, but I found that chart compiled (alongside slim and regular versions). A 3" chest difference would definitely be noticeable, but if it were true, I would be happy.

I got 2 white twill non iron In extra slim. They fit me fine in the chest and shoulder and waste if fine, I say there is maybe 1 from my sides, which is OK for. The length could be a little longer, but they stayed tucked in the the most part. The shirts feel very soft, I really like the feel. I got their magazine in store which states the extra slim is even more taken in now at the sides, I'm not sure if this is what I got or the old measurements, forgot to ask sales guy if mimes were the updated extra slim fit.

I'm 6' 182lb 41inch chest and 32.5 waist and the shirts fit me fine.

When there is another sale I will get some more shirts from them.

Not a bad deal for a tie and a shirt, picked another one up. Although... I would never pay $100 for the knit tie I chose. Is CT just in a perpetual state of sale? I assume they are since their shirts, while a good deal for $50, are not worth anywhere near $160.
