This issue arose when I applied to the private club: Charitable contiutions. They wanted details... We give, but not a heck of a lot. I know the "rule" is 10% which is a huge amount of money for 2 mid 30's professionals. Is 10% ever the norm by today's standards? What do you guys think? I am referring to working people and not family wealth. I know people who have family foundations who just allocated a percentage of the interest to charity. That does not impede paying one's bills. Thoughts from the 'older' SF community??
