I am very new at this and need the help of some of you more experienced members. Apropos of the thread about projects for 2009, having spent the last year shedding some weight, I am building a core wardrobe, including a single-breasted 3B charcoal worsted wool suit. I don't wear suits daily in my occupation, but like to wear one for meetings and seminars. A medium weight would be most versatile. My tailor carries cloth by Holland & Sherry, Dormeuil, Zegna, and Scabal. (that I know of). I have seen three patterned Scabal fabrics that interest me, a pick&pick, a subtle small herringbone stripe, and a pinhead design, all in charcoal grey. Any general advice, including none of the above, i.e. choose an even simpler fabric? Recommendations from specific books would be greatly appreciated. Apologies in advance if this query is too "basic" to merit a response.

There is a nice charcoal sharkskin (pick 'n pick) fabric from the Holland and Sherry "Snowy River" book. It should be around 10oz., good for most of the year.
