The beauty of Charcoal suit is that you don't have to wear black shoes. Why on earth would you go back to black shoes?

Dark Burgundy or Reddish Brown is what I would wear.

Maybe the question should be exactly which charcoal suit?

I've got 2, both described as charcoal, and one is way lighter than the other - black looks good with the darkest, burgundy with the greyer one. Fabrics and colours are like that, one mans charcoal is another dark grey ;)

I prefer burgundy or brown, leaving black only for interviews.

Charcoal, as I have always understood, is pretty dark. So that would point to black shoes. But as pharmaboy brought up, if it's lighter (say more of a slate grey), then you could swing brown shoes no problem. But generally darker does = better.

I usually wear black, but I also wear burgundy with charcoal on occasion.

Black shoes for charcoal; dark brown shoes for light gray; either one for mid-gray.

I've tried brown shoes with charcoal and I just don't like the look on me but that's personal preference.

Black is the safe choice, but I find it quite boring and would go burgundy myself.

Red patent leather, white laces and black/red/white argyle socks.

Seriously though black, burgudy, dark chocolate brown seem to be agreed upon by pretty much everyone these days.

I still think black looks particularly strong - especially if the shoe has a great shape.

Any dark color would be strong. My new passion is shell cordovan in Burgundy. Wow it looks great with anything. Check out Alden. They are more cash, but dreamy!

Important to mention - The SHINE is key on any shoe. In my humble opinion, shine is MORE important than the color. The best black shoe will leave you flat without the shine. As mentioned above, a real baller can pull off almost anything especially if the shoes are well cared for......
