I have a pair of unused Alden Beefroll Penny Mocc with the Vibram soles in Tan (not made anymore). I would like to darken the color and would like any information on how I can successfully accomplish this. The tan, to me, has a yellowish tint to it so just about any color that would subdue the yellow tint. Not adverse to taking them to a cobbler for a professional job. Thanks.

My guy charges about $25 to do it and you cannot tell the shoes were not the new color to begin with. You can probably do a passable job of it on your own, but by the time you buy the dyes and lotions and account for the time and materials involved, it may be easier to let the pro handle it.

Ron Rider would be the man for the job. He does it properly and beautifully:

WOW!!! This is a long way from taking some polish, applying it to the shoes, and behold - perfect color change. It appears, if I have to use dyes, I'm looking at a professional. Unfortunately Rider is out of my price range especially after paying for the new Aldens-ugh.
