Chan Price Increase

I had my Chan appointment today. It was pleasant to meet Arnold Wong, with whom I had often corresponded, and Patrick was his usual knowledgeable, helpful self.

However, I was a little dismayed to see that Chan's prices (at least on the items I looked at) had jumped 8% to 10% over the prices for the same items on the November tour.

Chan's prices went up rather steeply between 2006 and 2008 but then held pretty steady for a couple of years, so I suppose an increase was inevitable. Still, I don't remember a jump of this magnitude in my 5 1/2 years of dealing with them.

I know they are still a helluva good value compared to most comparable bespoke tailoring. Still, I left with the feeling that I was glad that I was already pretty well stocked with garments from Chan.

Oh, if anyone's interested, I ordered a casual summer suit in tan from Harrison's Frontier fabric--3-roll-2 and flapless patch pockets. I can also use the jacket as an odd jacket if desired, so it should be a handsome and useful warm-weather garment.

You'll be seeing those right after JLib posts the photos of his mythical Allen-Edmonds.

My dream is Jan shooting my Fabbri, and hitting Horace because it is off for him by 3mm.

That is unfortunate but not unpredictable.
