1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Re: the shoelace comments:

If the intent was to say, "hey, here's a good way to tie your shoes to keep them from coming un-knotted," then I'd get it. If it was to say, "I'm shocked at the aesthetics of the loops on your laces; they look ridiculous," then I'm with Manton.

    Are you people really serious?

This is ridiculous. Sorry, maybe I am in a bad mood, but I understand matt and foo's complaints better when I read crap like this.

Then again, if this is all you can find to bitch about I must be doing something right.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I was just having some fun.

But, having said that, I know there is a difference between the reef knot and the granny knot.
Both in terms of how the shoelace bows sit on the shoe and in terms of how secure the knot (supposedly) is. It is up to you to choose the one you like best.

    They ... don't come unknotted!

All these years of getting bespoke shoes and buying from EG and the like and not a single maker/seller has ever said there was a problem with the way I tie or lace my shoes. Never come up.

Surprised by all the responses. My goal was not to cause any controversy or to make anyone question their ability to get dressed in the morning. The simplest fix, for anyone interested, is to reverse the first crossover point when tying your shoelaces, before making the initial knot. If you start with right over left, do left over right, and vice versa. Continue as before for the rest of the process and instead of tying granny knots you'll have a square knot that will look normal and not come undone as easily.

It takes about a week or two before this becomes second nature. Or so I've heard ...

^^Great fit. Nice tie. Would rather the pant color be tan/khaki given the shade of navy, the gold/bronze in the tie, and the colors in the buttons, but I get that grey works and is closer to CBD.

No, because blazers are not CBD. However, this is a great tie.

    There is nothing to "fix."

Not according to the following guy. From a sartorial perspective who cares, but after reading this article in Runners' World a couple years ago I stopped unwittingly tying grannies and started tying reef knots, and my shoes stopped becoming untied through the course of the day. Woohoo!

    * A Q for Sir Mantoni - where does the rules sit with wearing black shoes w a knit tie that is not black or navy or grey. As I may have sinned today.. Certainly can't be worse than me not buttoning up my BDs or commissioning a 1B SB BlazerSuit..

    Can you answer this,Manton?
