Might be because you're sitting but the shoulders look a little too built and square, particularly in contrast with the rather slim lapels. These proportions are not ideal IMO. As you said, shirt collar isn't great - needs a little more length and spread. Finally, the combination is extremely conservative, to the point of boring. I know that Manton argues that 3 solids is always great - I think it's rarely a success. You should add at least one pattern here - maybe a striped or neat tie, or a striped shirt ?

I think if you like solids, (I know I do) varying textures can make a seemingly boring outfit more interesting. Such as a navy grenadine tie, and herringbone suit.

How about burgundy grenadine and a sharkskin suit?

It is a navy grenadine and the suit is a fairly distinct and textured nailhead (the square is also a slightly off white with a textured floral pattern). A closer shot may have made the textures more apparent. I wonder if you would have thought it would be enough. I suspect it would still be far on the boring side.

I don't disagree with any of this. Once Chris finishes my shirts, I expect I will get him started on a suit.

Thanks for the comments. I appreciate the feedback.

Disagree. While textures can really enhance the look, I think the 3 solids is a great, clean look that there is absolutely nothing wrong with.

Yes it sounds like the outfit is likely much more interesting up close - I couldn't detect any of these textures and weaves on the pic.

Thank's! It's actually the same suit. I guess the lighting was different, not the best Blackberry pics either.
It's a rather unflashy Swedish brand, Cavaliere. The fabric is Vitale Barberis Canonico.
