VBC 100% wool

As for size if in doubt, go with the larger one. Far easier to get right with an alterations tailor.

Since I really couldn't decide, and sales are ending, I ended up getting both - 46 in navy, 48 in dark green. I like the dark green colour more, unusual but very elegant imo, and the herringbone is a bit more visible. Incredibly fast shipping by DHL.
So...Jackets look great, even the lapel seems better than in pictures on the website.
The funny thing is, I am still not completely sure which to keep. Both are long in the sleeve but that's always the case, the 48 is perhaps slightly long in body too and definitely needs altering the back (mine is very hollow) but is definitely more comfortable and doesn't look large at all in the top block. The 46 looks more the right length and much better back but less comfortable, while probably usable.
Thinking to alter and keep the 48 but will probably bring both to the alteration tailor and follow her advice.

EDIT: yep, will be keeping the dark green in 48. Pinning the back and shortening the sleeves fixed it very nicely.

Ever wonder what it looks like inside a fabric mill?

This week I have toured VBC and Drago to better understand what actually goes into making a suit or a jacket.

My conclusion; it is a f***ing looong process. ?

Upcoming fabric idea, olive colored Solaro with blue underside instead of usual red. I think Drago may have it. I'd get it in a heartbeat.

I believe this may have been made up for a forum member but not entirely sure. Tofani made this pretty cool green/blue solaro suit not too long ago and I was able to find some pics. Though I couldn’t find the mill.

Pretty much every mill makes this stuff, but it will rarely be seen in a RTW collection. I think it is cool, but pretty sure it will remain an MTM/Bespoke thing..

I agree! I think it looks pretty damn cool but like you said I can’t think of anyone who would put this in their RTW line except for a maybe brand like G.abo, it’s pretty low on the versatility scale.

I'm so bummed I couldn't participate in this. How did the trunk show go? Good turnout?

I'm sending you a PM about MTO.

Well, there is atleast a new jacket and a new pair of trouser for ol'uncle Kev on the way..

It went well, great turnout! People seem to like that trunkshows are back on the menu.

We also take custom orders from Ambrosi and Orazio Luciano in our shop on a regular basis.

Kevin,

Please restock this one in size 46. It ran out so fast I didn't get a chance.

Does the new navy DB overcoat look nice? Yes
Would it look better if it would reach below the knees? Also yes ;)

Is it just that trends come and go and longer overcoats move slow, or what is the reason behind not having a version that is slightly longer?

Longer overcoats tend to move slower, yes.
And cut just on the knee, or slightly above seems to be the sweetspot.

However, we do have one longer coat coming in a few colors. Built on our Mac coat from the spring collection, it is below the knee length.

Hey Kevin, as an fyi, found a small typo on the page.

On the right side: 'selcetion'

Also, love the Orazio drop.
